Jonez Cain
Jonez Cextia Marie Cain or (Joni Cain) was born and raised in the Bay Area. Jonez began her love affair with the arts at the tender age of 7 acting and dancing with different groups. As an adult this love has blessed her with many new opportunities; Discovery/DiscoveryID’s lead role on "Cuff Me If You Can" Season1 No Life of the Party and a host of Independent films "Basketball 3:16", "Watch Phoenix Rise", "Scraperboyz", "Cover", "The Shop" and a featured role on the new film festival winner of Sundance "Fruitvale” all being released 2013. Jonez recently added event guest host appearances on KOFY’s “The Art of Dreaming” with Host Pharaoh Powell. Her love grew deeper and seeped over into modeling and songwriting which has provided working opportunities with famous photographer Peter Bruce, writing for an artist on independent label HHK with that she became an intern with TraMaí Entertainment, Inc. She was also an understudy with the play "Old Settler" produced by Tico Wells. She’s reaching for the stars above Hollywood and won’t stop until her vision and destiny is fulfilled. She’s a mentor to the youth and gives back. She is also a breast cancer advocate and a Lupus survivor. She gives all credit to God and realizes that she's being used it's all his doings. Jonez is currently working on new feature films” Hopes Identity” and “Selling Dreams” also an R&B Gospel EP and Clothing line both launching Summer 2013.

Interview ~ Winter 2013
-It seems as if you'll hold the record for most appearances in film at the Oakland Film Festival. Describe how this feels? How did this come about? Explain your runaway success.
It feels incredible to see that I'm not working hard in vain; but what feels the best is that I'm trusting God through my journey and he's showing me the ropes. I won’t proclaim to be perfect I'm a human being but every day I work so very hard to walk, live, and love like Jesus even when it hurts. I'm so thankful that he's giving me the desires of my heart. It came about by filmmakers giving me a chance to even audition, and one friend named Taylor Pointer who got me an audition on Fruitvale. I have no explanation except I told God what I wanted and I worked hard. I showed up and he showed out. I truly can’t explain 9 projects in three years and 4 films for 2013 all while working, being a wife, and a mother I really can’t tell you. I can only think of one term: Supernatural.
-List the similarities and/or differences between you and the characters you'll play this year.
Sasha (Watch Phoenix Rise) and I are extremely different and have no similarities at all. I couldn't stand her and I wanted to make sure no one else could either. I also felt bad for Sasha because she was really lost and malicious and carried out the seven deadly sins proudly. There are so many young women like her whose hearts are good deep down inside. I want to say there's always another way it may be a little harder at first but through prayer God will start blessing you and changing you. Just try him. When it gets rough read Job right away it will help you weather the storm and he will comfort you. When you cry; just hold strong. Simone (Cover) and I are somewhat similar. When you look at Simone you would never assume she’s been through such hard times because she’s so sweet and looks like your average young women favored with a really good upbringing and life. To everyone surprise Simone is no saint. She works towards change, and luckily finds love in the process.

-What was it like working with Ramesses Head, Pharaoh Powell, Ryan Coogler, Michael Shaw Cunningham, and Christopher Ellis?
Describe their directing styles. The directors were different but similar in some ways. I love tight ships. I love directors who expect nothing but greatness and professionalism- it drawls the best out of me and makes me eager to work harder. When I can see the passion in their eyes it automatically shines through to me. Kindness moves me.

-What obstacles have you faced as an up-and-coming actress?
As an upcoming actress you must be O.K. with the word “NO!” At times it’s for the better. Another obstacle is being a lady and being respected as a professional. Sometimes you have to stomp your stiletto down but gracefully of course. We should not associate ourselves with everyone. There are some places we don’t belong. Be very careful and stay prayed up. -What obstacles have you faced being based in the Bay Area vs. L.A.? I haven't seen many obstacles. I get a lot of love in the Bay and go back and forth to L.A. and Atlanta when necessary. I wish they wouldn't cast movies in L.A. if their being shot here in the Bay. If they leave a few supporting roles for the city they’re filming in, it would cut production cost a little.

-Which do you prefer comedic or dramatic acting?
I prefer Drama because it usually changes lives or brings awareness to situations of the audience it reaches. I like comedic acting because I'm really goofy and I love to laugh.
