When Did You Fall In Love With Hip-Hop?
Hip-Hop turned 36 today.
Listening to 'Rappers Delight' I am reminiscent of the 6th grade after school dance-a kid's first inkling of club culture. It was the Spring dance, the second of two, held that year. 'Endless love' was the runaway favorite at our school, until the DJ put on the Sugar Hill Gang's Rappers Delight.' There are no words to describe my first interaction with Hip-Hop. It was just a feeling-LOVE. We made the DJ play it over and over again, until our two-hour dance was over.
The thing that they said would never last and would only be a fad, is now an international phenonenom that transcends culture, languages, and generations.
